TO PERFORM DURING 2010 BROOKLYN HIP-HOP FESTIVAL WEEK

[Brooklyn, NY, June 8, 2010] Brooklyn Bodega, producer of the 6th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (BHF), is proud to announce that Black Milk, Masta Ace and DJ Rhettmatic will perform during the 2010 BHF Week.

Detroit MC/Producer Black Milk and legendary Juice Crew lyricist Masta Ace bring impressive Hip-Hop resumes and a history of creating timeless music to the BHF Main Day stage. Beat Junkies DJ crew founding member, Rhettmatic’s explosive turntable abilities will be on full display during BHF Week’s “Salute The DJ” event.

“The addition of Black Milk and Masta Ace on the Main Day and DJ Rhettmatic for ‘Salute The DJ’ makes a great event even better. Masta Ace is an original Brooklyn icon going back to the days of “The Symphony.” Black Milk brings one of the freshest sounds from Detroit and continues the legacy of the great J Dilla, who we will celebrate on Tuesday, July 6th at the inaugural Bodega Education Initiative (BEI). Rhettmatic will bring his world renowned turntable wizardry on Thursday, July 8th. In one fresh sweep, we bring the best from Brownsville, The D, and the City of Angels. Past BHF performances have ranged from up-and-comers to icons and legends, including as Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco, KRS One, Big Daddy Kane, Pharoahe Monch, Grand Puba, DJ Premier, DJ J.Period, Styles P, Dead Prez, Buckshot, Brand Nubian, Little Brother, Mickey Factz and Tanya Morgan.

Black Milk and Masta Ace will share the main stage with Money Making Jam Boys, Curren$y, Fashawn, Skyzoo, the Duck Down Records 15th Anniversary celebration featuring Buckshot, 5FT, Smif N Wessun and DJ Evil Dee as well as BHF 2010 headliner, De La Soul. DJ Rhettmatic will split tables with Bobbito Garcia, DJ Rob Swift, DJ Spinna, and Waajeed.

About the Artists:

Black Milk — In only a few short years, producer/emcee Black Milk has quickly developed into one of the few Hip-Hop artists who carries an accomplished resume and widely held optimism about his ability to lead the modern Hip-Hop movement. He’s placed beats on projects by Kidz in the Hall, Guilty Simpson, Slum Village, Strange Fruit Project and Genius/GZA and has also worked with major label artists such as Pharoahe Monch, Kardinal Offishall, and Busta Rhymes.

Masta Ace — Ace made his lyrical debut on the 1988 classic “The Symphony” as a member of the Juice Crew. More recently he released albums Disposable Arts (2001), A Long Hot Summer (2004) and Ace & Edo (2009). His latest project, The Show, will be released this summer on M3 Records, a joint venture with his partners Filthy Rich and DJ Rob.

DJ Rhettmatic — Rhettmatic began his DJ career in 1983 with the DJ group Double Platinum, and was one of the founding members of Beat Junkie crew. Rhettmatic’s unique style encompasses the many elements of a multifaceted Hip-Hop DJ. As an accomplished scratch musician, as well as an explosive party/club DJ, Rhettmatic demonstrates his versatility by using the turntable as his musical instrument. In 1995, along with MC/Producer partner, KeyKool, he released Kozmonautz, widely regarded as one of the first nationally recognized Hip-Hop albums by an Asian-American group, and received critical acclaim by notable hip-hop publications such as the Source Magazine, Rappages, Rap Sheet, URB Magazine. Also of note, Rhettmatic assisted in establishing LA based Underground Hip-Hop Super Group, the Visionaries in 1994.
